Growing in open scrubland on border of forest with Acacia koa, Schinus terebinthifolius, Podocarpus macrophyllus, Metrosideros polymorpha, Lindsaea ensifolia, Dicranopteris linearis, Nephrolepis brownii, Scaevola gaudichaudiana, Leptecophylla tameameae, and others. Preserved_Specimen Tree over 2 m tall, trunk relatively straight with lateral branches almost perpendicular and spreading from trunk.
